I knew when I filmed my video "One on One (Always)" it was a bg deal, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to throw a party or not. Many ideas went through my head, first I thought I should have something small and intimate for about 25 super fans, then I thought maybe I should just have an online release party. With all the uncertainty, I decided to ask none other than my fans themselves.
So I posted on Facebook, asking if I should have a release party or not, in less than an hour, I received an overwelming response of "YES!" But with all those people engaged and wanting to support, I knew I didn't want to have an intimate party any more, it had to be...BIG!
After debating on a variety of places, my friend Derrick Duff Sr. reached out to me. Since he was already throwing an event in two weeks, why don't we team up? His Annual Pink and Black (Breast Cancer Awareness) event was going to be October 9th, which is the exact day I had in mind for my party! I knew that couldn't be a coincodence. I decided to take him up on his offer. I knew through this party I would get exposed to more local fans and have access to a huge venue plus my fans would get exposed to Derrick Duff Sr. annual events. It was a Win/Win situation, he even re-did the flier to accomadate me.
The night went great! A nice size crowd showed up and everybody was very supportive. Relatives I haven't seen in years even showed up and I got to reconnect with them. I ended up performing around midnight. I decided to do:
- One on One (Always)
- Permission/Kim B. Day
The crowd wanted another song, but yall know me...I never give away too much at one time. Despite some sound issues in the beginning of the performance (Derrick had to hand me another mic) it went pretty smooth.
I would post the performance video but unfortunately it came out darker than I expected, and I'm trying to do this thing where I only put out high quality videos, so it may never see the light of day. But I'm going to play around with the brightness and see what I can do. But hey you should have been there if you wanted to see the show that bad! (wink, wink)
After the show it was the.......VIDEO! Take a look:
Overall I had a great time and I am VERY happy I ultimately decided to throw a party and not just have an online extravaganza! Stay tuned, I got more events, videos, and music coming your way before 2015 ends!
